One day a scientist working under Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam asked Dr. Kalam for permission to go home before starting his work. That day was his son's birthday and he had promised his son that he would be home that evening.
Dr. Kalam allowed him to go home early. Then, around 5:00, Dr. Kalam noticed that the scientists were working so intently that they forgot that they had to go home early.
When the scientist remembered this at around half past six in the evening, he hurriedly returned home.
When he returned home, his wife told him that Dr. Kalam himself had come to their house around 5 pm and took their son out for a ride.
Leadership Quality #1: The habit of doing more than what is paid for

When Henry Ford presented his engineers with the idea of building the Ford Company's famous v8 engine - 8 cylinders in one block, the engineers told him it was impossible. Mr. Ford said - "I want it and we're going to make it, you guys get to work now."
After much effort, Ford's engineers could not find a way. After 1 year, when Henry Ford went to check the progress of the project, the engineers said the same thing, "We can't find a way, we don't think it's possible". Mr. Ford then told them not to worry. Just keep doing your job.
After a few days, like magic, Ford engineers finally found a way. And the Ford company succeeded in building its first popular V8 engine.
Leadership Criterion No. 3: Clarity of Decision

Personality In 1979, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam was selected by ISRO as the Mission Director of the Satellite Launching Mission. Everything was fine but due to a technical glitch at the last moment, the launching mission failed.
And instead of orbiting the satellite, it sank into the Bay of Bengal. Dr. Kalam was shocked. At that time ISRO Chairman Dr. Satish Dhawan came forward and took Dr. Kalam with him to the press conference.
While the media started criticizing the wastage of crores of rupees, Dr. Satish Dhawan took the responsibility of all the failures on his shoulders and said, “I have full faith in my team and I am sure that they will be successful next year. "
The following year in 1980, Dr. Kalam started the project again, and this time he was successful. But this time Dr. Satish Dhawan did not go to the press conference.
This time he sent Dr. Kalam alone. One of the great qualities of leadership is that when there is a failure, a great leader comes forward and takes all the responsibility on his shoulders. But when success is achieved, he gives credit to his team members first, and then to himself.
Leadership Quality No. 6: Willingness to take responsibility in every situation
In today's age we have to play the role of a leader in some field or the other every day. One has to play the role of a business leader, one has to play the role of a family leader and one has to play the role of a leader of one's society. It doesn't matter how big or small the field is.
The success of a group depends on the qualities of its leader. And the funny thing is, be it business or cricket, the qualities required for a leader are the same as in any field. Just as an effective leader can strengthen a broken group, an ineffective leader can destroy a strong group.
